Essential oils are associated with something refined and mysterious. For a long time they have been used in medicine, cosmetology and cooking. In Ancient Egypt they used oils to protect themselves from the scorching sun, in China and India they used them for treatment, and in the Roman Empire and the East they looked after the body. The beneficial properties of essential oils are still needed today.
Essential oil is a fragrant volatile substance released from flowers, seeds, roots, leaves, fruits, wood or resin of plants.
Oils give plants flavor. The properties of oils depend on the type of plant, the conditions under which they are grown, the part used, and the production method. Often oils with different compositions and aroma are obtained from different parts of the same plant. Essential oils are obtained by distillation (from greens and barks), extraction (from inflorescences, petals and roots) and pressing (from skins and fruits).
